About Us

Parker and Arrol

are designer-makers based in Shrewsbury, who specialise in hand painting silks, predominately using velvet.
We sell direct from our studio and through galleries and shops (please see our list of stockists). We work for private clients, architects, interior designers, churches and cathedrals.

Our Story

Parker and Arrol was founded in 1998;
it is a partnership between Meg Arrol (née Parker) and Winifrid Bradley (née Arrol). Meg trained at the West of England College of Art, Bristol. Winifrid completed a degree in printed textiles at John Moores University, Liverpool, followed by her Masters at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Hand Painting

Hand painting allows us the freedom to produce bespoke pieces of any size, with no limit to the number of colours or subject. Our strengths lie in our ability to draw and as colourists. We enjoy the variations that occur during hand painting; it’s what makes each piece individual and enhances its charm.

Commissions

If you are interested in commissioning a piece, please contact the studio where we would be happy to discuss any requirements you may have.
On commissioning a piece, we like to work closely with the client, producing preliminary sketches. When those are approved, we produce illustrations and fabric samples showing the colours of the proposed design and only once this is approved do we make the finished piece.
